 Endorsements from Readers
Like everyone else, I get a bit down sometimes and wonder if I'm doing anything worthwhile, if I'm really making a difference in people's lives. Particularly since the release of Aspergirls, the fan mail is now coming in almost daily, and I've been really humbled, touched and encouraged by these messages from readers. Here is just a sample:
"After seeing an article in an english newspaper I bought your book and it has answered so many questions! My daughter has just been diagnosed at the age of 12 although it was a struggle. I am going to send your aspergirl chart to the schools my daughter has attended in the hope that they can help other aspie girls who haven't been "found" yet! I was sad but after reading your book I have a newly found inspiration and hope for the future and I just wanted to say thank you, you have helped me more than you can imagine! Very best wishes" SW, Cambridgeshire
"I have to say I am kind of amazed. Almost every page I read in Aspergirls strikes me like an awakening, a gentle but distinct revelation about how I feel and relate to myself and others. My major point is, I feel like this book is not just a help in getting a clearer view of females with AS but also an eye-opener in the sense of showing Asperger's Syndrome in BOTH sexes in a much more human and emotionally relevant way than all other descriptions I found so far. I think there are probably many guys with AS who might very well benefit from the information and suggestions in Aspergirls while learning about themselves." JS, Sweden
I am a 31yo woman recently diagnosed with Aspergers, and coming across your website has been a real delight for me. I keep reading and saying "oh yes," over and over again. It's as if a lightbulb has gone on for me." HF, Nashville
"I just want to thank you for the books as they have been wonderful for myself and daughter, recently diagnosed aged 14. It has been a relief for her and she actually embraces Asperger Syndrome." RJ
"I have just read your book "Aspergirls" and I love it very much because I find myself in many words like I never done before. In Germany we don´t have books like yours. The most books about autism are only for parents from autistic children (boys not girls), not for adults in the spectrum. Thank you very much for this wonderful "Aspergirls" that give me hope for my future to live my AS life in the way I am, not how the others want me to be." SK, Germany
"I read your article about aspergirls...and the traits of asperger women and I was shocked to find myself... I am 56 years old! Finally a diagnosis that really makes sense of EVERYTHING....Finally, I am a therapist in private practice." CW, US
"Thank you, thank you, thank you. My daughter was diagnosed with Aspergers 2 years ago at the age of 17 and we are still coming to terms with, what is for us, a positive diagnosis. Your book is just wonderful. I am only up to Chapter 11, but had to write as I cannot believe how you are describing our wonderful Aspergirl. Having read it herself, she is quoting paragraphs verbatim and is so excited that you describe so many of her traits. She ...is thrilled to find a book dedicated to girls with Aspergers." BG, UK
"I just want to thank you as I found things in the book that will enable me to recognise triggers and to know how I can try to help myself. I have just lost (yet another) relationship due to meltdowns and I realise that I don't want to be alone. I really believe that the way you have broken things down in your book will give me the tools to make a better attempt at any future relationships and to repair those I still have." SF, UK
"Last week I obtained a copy of your book '22 things.....' and I've already read it three times (the first time at one sitting!). I just wanted you to know that, of all the dozen-or-so books on Aspergers which I have in my possession, yours - the most concise by far - hits the nail on the head for me more than any of the others." MS
"My son has AS and your book is far more relevant than descriptions I've found elsewhere." LA, Australia
" I don't know if you've been told this lately - but what you are doing is very important, and can be life changing to many." Deborah, NY
"...what you do is important to many people...Anyway, I came across your website while doing a paper for school and I started reading it and initially broke into tears, then I let your website, as well as a few others educate me and I stopped crying and I felt like the world was lifted off of my shoulders, I know why now. I can't even come close to expressing what it has meant to me to finally get the answers we have so desperately been searching for....I have an appointment with a specialist for the testing necessary for the proper diagnosis and I demanded that his preschool set up a meeting between myself, his teacher, speech therapist, and occupational therapist to discuss what our course of action should be with regard to the test results. You are a mother yourself, and you know your child better than anyone, and so do I. I am positive that he has AS, and I am excited to start implementing things that I have learned through your website to help encourage and support him in every way. You have made an immense difference in our lives. We are just a normal family that has been in a very dark and isolated place and you have shined a light in and I will forever be grateful to you and even though he may never express it to you, Sam will forever be grateful to you for what you do. So, thank you, thank you, thank you! He is on the way to diagnosis and treatment and a more comfortable life suited to meet the needs we now know he has. Keep it up. You are making a difference!" Forever grateful, JL
"You have inspired me with your considered words and good humour. I love the way you talk about AS and am glad to hear you include in your books some hope at the end of all your chapters. I am writing to you to tell you that I love what you are doing and how much I admire your honesty, please keep going." Jill, UK
"I just want to say hi and thank you for raising the awareness of AS. I really liked your videos and this website help4aspergers.com. They are very informative and really encouraging for me." Fumiro, Japan
